DOE EM Update – EM Announces New Manager to Succeed Jack Craig at Savannah River Site

February 13, 2018 – EM has named Michael D. Budney as the new manager for the Savannah River Operations Office. He succeeds Jack Craig, who is retiring after 32 years of federal service, including 29 years of leadership in the environmental cleanup program….

Craig also served as acting Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for EM at DOE headquarters; director of the EM Consolidated Business Center in Cincinnati; and deputy manager of the DOE Ohio Field Office, where he was responsible for the management, cleanup, and restoration of the Fernald, Mound, Battelle-Columbus and Ashtabula sites, and the West Valley Demonstration Project. DOE Environmental Management Bulletin – EM Sites to See Cost Savings From Sharing Equipment to Relocate Waste

January 16, 2018 – “Cost savings will result from two EM cleanup sites sharing highly specialized equipment for packaging and relocating nuclear waste to storage locations.

Workers at the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) in New York shipped welding equipment to the Richland Operations Office (RL) at the Hanford Site in Washington state on Jan. 8 to assist in proposed packaging and moving of radioactive cesium and strontium capsules to dry storage. Sharing the equipment valued at approximately $2.4 million helps the sites achieve savings.” Link to Bulletin
