WVDP food drive delivers 95k pounds of food to 9 pantries

WEST VALLEY — The workforce at the West Valley Demonstration Project completed its annual food drive on Nov. 11 as part of its continued commitment to the community.

This year, the food drive collected more than 95,000 pounds of food and provided turkeys, holiday items and staples for nine food pantries. Read the full article here.

West Valley Ships First Waste Containers from Main Plant Takedown

October 25, 2022 — EM Update

WEST VALLEY, N.Y. – EM and its cleanup contractor at the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) have successfully shipped the first 12 containers of waste from the demolition of the Main Plant Process Building by rail to a disposal facility.

Crews with CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley (CHBWV) expect to ship approximately 1,500 containers of waste from the building takedown over the course of the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2025. Read the full article here.

Workers safely remove first section of WVDP Main Plant

November 10, 2022 — Olean Times Herald

WEST VALLEY — Deconstruction of the Solvent Storage Terrace at the West Valley Demonstration Project was recently completed as part of the ongoing deconstruction of the Main Plant Process Building.

The storage terrace is a concrete block structure located on the 3rd floor of the Main Plant Process Building. The area formerly held storage tanks associated with the final purification of the uranium and plutonium products.

WEST VALLEY — A train with 12 containers of the first demolition debris from the Main Plant

Process Building at the West Valley Demonstration Project in Ashford has been shipped off the site
